Utterly and Entirely Useless

Quite surprisingly, it turns out that everyday there are more searches on the internet for the term “useless information” rather than for the term “useful information”. Check out the following chart:

How is this possible? Is useless information the new useful information?

I looked up the word “useless” in the dictionary and found the following description “of no use; not serving the purpose or any purpose”. Why would anyone be interested in useless information? Who would read a blog, or book about useless facts?

Whilst I leave you hanging on that question, I’m going to talk to you a bit about myself. My name is Izzie and I’m writing a blog for my English class. When I started to think about what I wanted to write about, I started to reflect on what people wanted to read. Initially I considered talking about my experiences and me, and then I thought about writing my favourite quotes and poems and telling you about what they mean to me and why I like them. After considering a couple of options, I realized that writing about random, interesting, and utterly useless facts and ideas would be something that would be new for me, and, hopefully, for you, too.
So, getting back to our initial theme, Jean de La Fontaine once said something very wise “There is nothing useless to men of sense”. Useless information has, technically, no use; however it transforms you into a person with sense. This is exactly what you’ll find throughout my blog. Whilst reading my entries, you will read information of no use whatsoever; facts and ideas that will, ultimately, serve no purpose at all, but one; to enrich and widen your understanding, and transform you into a “person of sense”.

If you have any comments, ideas, and recommendations for me about my blog or any of my entries, please don’t hesitate to write me a note. I am anxious to see what you think about my blog!

So, there’s really nothing left for me to say but to hope you will enjoy reading my blog!
